Tin, a silvery-white metal, is highly crystalline, malleable, and ductile. Its resistance to oxidation in air is attributed to the protective layer of tin dioxide (SnO2). Notably, in boasts ten stable isotopes, exhibiting atomic masses spanning from 112 to 124, marking the highest count of stable isotopes among all elements in the periodic table.
Over half of the global tin supply finds use in soldering applications. Additionally, its corrosion-resistant properties make it an ideal protective coating for steel. Tin-plated metal, recognized for its ability to withstand corrosion, is extensively employed in food packaging, notably in tin cans.
